    The Rolex and Omega movements are drastically more expensive. The current 25 jewel 7750 is incredibly accurate and durable. I am wearing my Hamilton chronomatic II now. Beautiful watch. Great time keeper. No need to improve on the movement.

    Prefer this model SMPc over the latest chunkier and in-your-face model. I own the blue model. Omega changed far too many things on a single model, from larger size, massive bezel numbers, increased dial markers, different hour hand… and don’t get me started on that silly looking toothpaste- cap pressure release. :-(

    I'm hesitant to get one because I have a 6.75" wrist. I heard that four links on each side with faux rivets cannot be removed so if you have a smaller wrist, it's hard to center the clasp in the middle. Anyone with my wrist size have any problems fitting?

  • @Harry-tb8yo

    Yes, it matches Bonds character in QoS. The first generation of Planet Oceans represented the concept of a tool watch much more than the current models do. They were smaller and lighter, more convenient to wear and had a better legibility. They were also much less flashy than the current ones. Back then there was also a more defined distinction between the relatively dressy SMP 300 and the no nonsense and straight forward toolish Planet Ocean. I have both, the blue SMP that has been featured in Casino Royale and the 42mm Planet Ocean from Quantum of Solace in black. No problem to wear both of them with a suit. Nowadays occasions to wear a tuxedo / dinner suit have become rare. So if you get the most important things right, e.g. fit and size of the tux, double cuff shirt, hand tied bow tie, polished shoes etc. you can easily get away with wearing a modestly sized dive watch like the SMP or the Planet Ocean.

    I have a 2007 Milgauss clear glass with orange squares in place of the numbers. I hope Rolex will use the New Air King case and bring the next generation 15-Milgauss to life. The watch really is 15-Milgauss or 1.5 Tesla.

    I'm debating this one vs a Grand Seiko Katana. Assuming discounts etc they are roughly the same price point. So the burgundy red of the Grand Seiko Katana vs this one, I'm just debating kinda. I gotta try both on in real life as I haven't seen either the GS or Zenith since the boutiques aren't everywhere hehehe.

    I own the 79230 in red and love it. I think it’s the one to have out of the 3 color choices. Just like the 1st generation 79220n had the shortest run, so it’s the rarest. The 2nd generation 79230r was discontinued before the blue and black variants making the red the rarest(probably). It makes it even more special for me. What a great watch!

    Thinking of buying the aquaracer, caliber 16 , its used which puts me off a bit because its one thousand pounds and i dont want to waste that money on buying the tag only to find out a year down the line it needs work on the automatic movement or something else just as bad.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso Месяц назад

      Unfortunately servicing is something that rears its head one way or the other with mechanical movements - though admittedly the Calibre 16 is based on an ETA7750 or Sellita SW500, so as far as automatic chronographs go its one of the cheapest to run because of how many watchmakers know how to work on it and readily available replacement parts. Best bet though to buy yourself some peace of mind is to buy it pre-owned with a warranty. More and more pre-owned dealers are offering warranties on watches, Chronext and Watchfinder both offer 2 year warranties, I bought my Breiting Chronomat a few years ago from a smallerindependent dealer that offered a 1 year warranty (bold considering it was a 30 year old watch), but you can find dealers out there that do it :)

    I own 3536-01. Wear it on an IWC rubber strap from later model. Very nice watch, light, legible, and very scratch resistant. It's my travel/vacation watch, flies under the radar, don't have to worry about my safety when traveling in places plagued by watch theft, be that London, Paris, or developing countries where a watch with more bling/recognition may prove to be an attractive target. I've only had one person ever comment about it when wearing, and he was a serious watch enthusiast. In my opinion, if it was 40mm and just a tad thinner, it would be perfect. But those are nitpicks, it's a great, rugged watch. Totally underrated. Appreciate your video. Prices have been climbing, get yours now, Gents!

  • @givemethemusicd
    @givemethemusicd Месяц назад

    Buying an in-house movement is like buying a used Rangerover or Audi. A certain headache. I can repair an ETA 7750 or an 08 Dodge Ram 1500 fairly easily. But, that isn't what buying high-end watches is about. It isn't about what is practical or intelligent. Or, what is mechanically sound. It is about satisfying the ego. I'd buy a $30k Rolex if the spot value of the precious metal content of that watch was $20k as of today. Their products are around $1k-6k in precious metal content on average. Where is the ''value'' outside of name recognition? It's all a BS social status gimmick with watches. I've driven supercars. They are different than watches. That is a poor comparison. The only objective competition variables between different automatic watch movements is accuracy and longevity. A supercar can do a lot of shit that an 08 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck can't. There is value addition. There is little to no value addition with this BS market of ''high-end'' watches. It is just branding value. That isn't objective value.

    • @ShahLusso

      Ufff it’s been a long time since I got these straps - and from what I remember it did vary depending on the leather you pick, my recommendation would be to reach out to him directly and he’ll give you a quote based on what you’re after. Regarding the clasp, I actually purchase my clasps separately from strapsco.com for my pasha’s straps, those were around US$20 if I remember right (also best to check though since it was a while ago) Hope that helps :)

    It's a great watch. Like the Sub there are some *incredibly* good fakes made in China. The lug-to-lug is too much for a wrist under 7". The 3120 base movements (diver and chrono) are prone to ejecting the crown and crown stem, it's held onto the watch by a very small set screw. If yours comes off the watch, do NOT try to put it back yourself, take it to AP or a very good watchmaker.
